You may choose any ELA standard from your grade level, select a district Priority Standard, use a Guaranteed & Viable Standard, or ask ChatGPT: "Suggest ELA standards for Grade ___ that would work well with a cultural dance–themed lesson."

Example — California 3rd Grade ELA Standard RI.3.7: "Use information gained from illustrations (e.g., maps, photographs) and the words in a text to demonstrate understanding of the text." This standard works beautifully with a multimedia dance lesson because it requires students to interpret visuals and connect them to text — just like analyzing cultural dance images or performance clips. Copy the full standard (with the code) into your working document.

Ask AI to Unpack the Standard. Paste your chosen standard into ChatGPT. Prompt example: "Unpack this ELA standard into clear, teachable sub-skills, including key verbs, student actions, vocabulary, and mastery expectations." AI will break the standard into smaller, teachable parts. Save this unpacking.

Select ONE Sub-Skill to Anchor Your Lesson. Choose the sub-skill that best fits an interdisciplinary dance activity. Strong examples: interpreting visuals (perfect for cultural dance images or video clips), describing movement or sequences, identifying key ideas or details, explaining relationships, comparing cultural practices. Pick ONE sub-skill to use for Deliverable 2.

Create an Interdisciplinary Lesson

Review Your Selected Sub-Skill. Look back at the one sub-skill you chose in Deliverable 1. This will be the literacy focus of your lesson. Everything you design must help students practice and demonstrate this sub-skill.

Choose Your Cultural Dance Connection. Select one culturally grounded dance tradition to anchor your lesson:
• Korean options: Fan Dance, Talchum, Samgomu Drum Dance
• Latin options: Ballet Folklórico, Cumbia, Salsa
This dance serves as the content context for your ELA lesson — NOT as a dance class. Students do not need to perform the dance; they learn through the context of cultural dance.

Select at Least Three Movement Phrases. Choose three dance-related words or phrases in Korean or Spanish that will appear naturally within the lesson. Examples: Da un paso lateral (side step) · Gira a la derecha (turn to the right) · Sigue el ritmo (follow the rhythm) · 부채 펼치기 (fan opening movement) · 리듬에 맞춰 (to the rhythm). These phrases should be meaningfully used during reading, writing, speaking, or analyzing dance visuals.

Ask AI for Three Lesson Ideas. Tell ChatGPT: "Give me three lesson ideas that teach this ELA sub-skill using my chosen cultural dance and these Korean/Spanish movement phrases." Choose one of the ideas or mix elements to create your own.

Build Your Final Lesson Plan Using AI. Paste your chosen idea into ChatGPT and request a full lesson, e.g.: "Turn this idea into a full lesson plan using the 5E model / Direct Instruction / PBL / Cooperative Learning." Your final plan must include: your ELA sub-skill, the cultural dance context, at least three Korean or Spanish movement phrases, learning activities, vocabulary, and an exit task or demonstration of understanding. Refine as needed: pacing, clarity, supports, extensions, differentiation.

Save and Prepare Your Lesson for Submission. Your final Deliverable 2 submission must include: your final AI-supported lesson plan, your selected cultural dance, your three Korean or Spanish movement phrases, the lesson format/model you used, and any prompts you used with AI.

Deliverable 03

Perform Team Dance: Joyce's Custom Routine

Worth up to 100 Points — Judged by Joyce of BbCat

Joyce of BbCat — legendary maker of stars and creator of the BB Cat style — has created a dance exclusively for Mission 03. This routine is designed for performers dancing together with coordinated timing and formations. Study her tutorial carefully.

Learn All Required Steps as a Team. Your team must perform all of Joyce's required steps, in the correct order, in a coordinated team format, whether live, avatar-based, or hybrid. Joyce's choreography is mandatory and must be fully represented.

Choose Your Team Performance Format. Your team may choose ONE:

✓ Option A — Full Live Team Performance: Your entire team dances the routine together on video.

✓ Option B — Full Avatar Team Performance: Your team creates an AI-avatar performance of the routine. The avatars must appear and move as a team, not as separate solo clips.

✓ Option C — Hybrid Team Performance (Live + Avatars Combination): Some members perform live, some are represented by avatars — every team member appears in the performance. This option allows teams to integrate creativity, technology, and personality, and is fully acceptable as long as the choreography remains accurate and team-based.

Add Creative Flair (Optional Bonus Points). After completing all of Joyce's required choreography, your team may add: signature moves, transitions or formation changes, stylistic endings, or team energy touches. Joyce awards bonus points for creativity and team expression.

Integrate Korean or Spanish Movement Language. Include at least three dance-related phrases in Korean or Spanish. You may speak them aloud to introduce moves, say them during transitions, or display them as captions, stickers, or subtitles. Spoken, written, or both — your choice.

Record and Finalize Your TEAM Performance Video. Ensure your video clearly shows: every team member (live or as an avatar), Joyce's full choreography, optional creative additions, at least three Korean/Spanish movement phrases, and coherent team formations. If hybrid, blend the live and avatar clips smoothly.

Your Mission

In Trove 03, teams use AI video tools to create a choreographed dance, then design an interdisciplinary lesson plan for students that uses dance to explore ELA, Social Studies, or World Language / International Language standards. Students write about themes, compare and contrast costumes and steps, or analyze movement as text — no physical performance required.

Standards Unpacking Guide — ELA · Social Studies · World Language

Your lesson plan must be built around a real ELA, Social Studies, or World Language / International Language standard. Use the California 3rd Grade ELA Standard RI.3.7 as your model example:

"Use information gained from illustrations (e.g., maps, photographs) and the words in a text to demonstrate understanding of the text (e.g., where, when, why, and how key events occur)."

To unpack this standard for your lesson:

"ChatGPT, help me unpack California ELA Standard RI.3.7 for a K-Pop themed lesson. Identify the key sub-skills, suggest an AI tool students can use to practice the standard, and write a lesson objective that connects to the Top K-Pop investigation narrative."

You may use any K-8 ELA, Social Studies, or World Language / International Language standard from your grade level. RI.3.7 is provided as a starting example.

Unpack a standard. Choose a K-8 ELA, Social Studies, or World Language / International Language standard from your grade level. Use the Oracle of the Lesson Design Rubric GPT to unpack the standard — identify the key sub-skills, a lesson objective, and how K-Pop culture connects to the concept.

Select movement phrases. Choose at least three movement phrases in Korean or Spanish. These phrases should appear naturally within reading, writing, speaking, or visual analysis activities in your lesson.

Ask AI for three lesson ideas, then build the full plan. Tell ChatGPT: "Give me three lesson ideas that teach [your sub-skill] using [your chosen dance] and these movement phrases: [list]." Choose one idea, then ask: "Turn this into a full lesson plan using the 5E model / Direct Instruction / PBL."

Finalize and submit. Your lesson plan must include: your chosen standard sub-skill, the cultural dance context, at least three Korean or Spanish movement phrases, learning activities, vocabulary, and an exit task or demonstration of understanding.

Bonus — Optional AI Dance Video · Up to 50 pts

This is entirely optional. No live performance or physical dance is required at any point.

Use an AI video creator to generate a short AI-choreographed synchronized dance video that illustrates the cultural concept from your lesson. The AI creates and animates the choreography based on your text prompt — you write the prompt and direct the cultural concept. Both deliverables are evaluated by the Oracle of the Rubric. D01 (Standard Unpack) and D02 (Lesson Plan) are each scored separately. The optional AI dance video bonus is scored on a separate rubric.

⭐ Option B — Create a Separate K-Pop Persona Handle (Recommended)

Create a brand-new Instagram account using your K-Pop idol persona name (e.g., @kpopmom, @ariasol_kpop). Your real identity stays completely separate. This is the most on-brand option — you already created an idol persona in Trove 01, now bring it to life on Instagram!

1Open Instagram and tap Sign Up. Use a separate email address (a school email or a new Gmail works fine).
2Choose a username based on your K-Pop idol persona from Trove 01 — for example: @kpopmom, @ariasol_kpop, @detectivekpop. This keeps your real account completely private.
3Set your persona account to Private in Settings. Then follow @topkpopio — we will follow your persona account back, and you approve our follow request.
4Post your dance video, lesson artifact, or AI creation from the persona account. Tag @topkpopio and use #TopKpopSleuth.
5DM @topkpopio from the persona account with your team name: “Trove 03 bonus — [Team Name] — persona handle @yourusername”
6On the submission form below, paste the post URL or write “Persona DM sent — @yourusername” in the Instagram Post URL field.

🔒 Option C — Fully Private via Google Drive + DM

No Instagram post required. Upload your video or artifact to Google Drive, set it to “Anyone with the link can view,” then DM the link to @topkpopio. Completely private — only the admin sees your work.
